Who Is Who In The ITIL World
We sometimes encounter confusion with respect to the main players in the ITIL arena. Hopefully the following will help address this:
OGC
This is the 'Office of Government Commerce', a part of the UK Government, and the owners of ITIL itself. Formally known as the CCTA, the OGC commissions work and development to support and license ITIL, Prince2 and other publications.
APMG
This is the accreditation body for ITIL. It is a commercial organization, and was granted the rights by the OGC last year to license ITIL.
EXIN
The 'Examination Institute for Information Science' is a provider of the ITIL exams. It is also an accreditor of ITIL training providers.
The ITIL Community
This is the major online independent user group for ITIL, with over 7,000 members worldwide.
ITSMF
Prior to the emergence of APMG, ITSMF acted as the main public facing body on behalf of the OGC. It's position was marginized in a relative sense by the re-organization in the market, but its scope is much wider than just ITIL.
