What is ISO 20000?

ISO 20000 is the international standard for ITSM.

ISO Definition:
ISO 20000-1 defines the requirements for a service provider to deliver managed services. It superceded BS15000. ISO 20000-2 is the service management code of practice.

ISO 20000 User Group Definition:
ISO 20000 is the first global standard for IT service management, and is fully compatible and supportive of ITIL and other framework.

ISO 20000 is the first international standard for ITSM. It is based on the earlier British Standard, BS15000.

The standards were both published through ISO's technical committee JTC 1/SC 7 during 2005.
